The Beagle Books story starts off simply enough with humble beginnings. What began innocently many years ago as just a hobby for our founder, Michael, an avid book collector and animal lover, blossomed into a personal library of over 5,000 books.

Rapidly running out of storage space (and desperately in need of floor space to walk on!), he reluctantly began selling off parts of his collection to local bookstores and was surprised that they would only offer pennies on the dollar for his beloved treasures. At this point, he made a concerted effort to find other venues for his books and the natural choice was via the Internet.

From the very start, Michael decided to offer great books at a fair price. This philosophy of offering fair prices on the sale (and purchase) of used books has become a basic tenet of our business and engine for growth. What originally began as a hobby became a business.

Today we buy and sell thousands upon thousands of books every month. We manage all of our operations out of our new 18,000 square feet warehouse. With over a dozen employees, it's a long way since working out of an apartment and keeping excess books at a separate storage facility.

Through the years, Michael has developed a small network of business advisors (fellow book collectors and booksellers), each with over 25 years of experience in the book industry. Acknowledging and adjusting to the rapid changes in the industry, the Beagle Books team includes members with experience in retail, technology and non-profit sectors. Today, we blend our industry, business and technical knowledge with a commitment to social responsibility. Did you know that Beagle Books helped recycle over 3 million pounds of books in 2004, 2005 and 2006 saving countless trees and saving our landfills in the process! We have also supported literacy projects, including donating textbooks that will ultimately help educate students in third world nations.

At Beagle Books, we have let our imagination take action on the original idea of finding new homes for a few good books.

We now aspire to continue our growth by supplying our customers with unparalleled customer service, re-circulating books through an aggressive buyback program, and supporting efforts that will make this a better world to live in.
